Biography

José Gloria is a political economist and PhD Candidate in Political Science at UCLA. He holds an MA in Economics from UC Santa Barbara, an MSc in Economics from the University of Queensland, and a BSc in Financial Economics from the University of Toronto.

He has lived and worked across Canada, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and the United States. He has consulted for the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank on development and data projects in the Philippines and Latin America. His research examines the political economy of elite power, particularly how elite networks, political institutions, and production structures shape economic development in the Philippines and Latin America. His work has appeared in the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization.
