The Buddy System Mentorship Program

On April 16th, 2025, the Political Science Undergraduate Council (PSUC) successfully launched the inaugural event for the Buddy System Mentorship Program. The event brought together over 100 students, allowing mentees and mentors to meet for the first time and coordinate future meetups. The Buddy System was proposed and created by Sebastine Chun, a first-year Political Science student, in collaboration with PSUC’s Peer Advising Committee. The program is designed to foster a welcoming and supportive environment by connecting students within the major, helping to reduce feelings of isolation while introducing the many resources and opportunities available throughout the Political Science Major, which aims to strengthen community, belonging, and collaboration among students in the department. Mentees and mentors were paired by the council, resulting in 60 active pairs. Looking ahead, PSUC plans to continue and expand the program in the coming academic year, aiming to make the Buddy System a lasting tradition that welcomes and supports current and new students each year.

If you are interested in participating in the PSUC either contact ucla.psuc@gmail.com or come on Tuesday, May 13th at 6-7:20pm for the Spring Town Hall in Bunche 1209B.
