Announcement: Political Science Honors Students Receive Prestigious Research Awards

The Department of Political Science is thrilled to announce that seven of our outstanding honors students have been awarded research support through two prestigious undergraduate research programs.

Julianne Lempert, Urania (Jiayin) Li, Ellen Ohler, Jessica Persano, and Emily Rusting have been selected as 2024-2025 recipients of the UCLA/Keck Humanistic Inquiry Award. This fellowship provides each scholar with significant research moneys and scholarship funding, and the opportunity to participate in workshops designed to enhance research and professional skills.

Additionally, honors students Shanon Lee and Naomi Lin have been awarded 2024-2025 Undergraduate Research Scholarship Program (URSP) scholarships, which also include research funding. These awards are given to students who have demonstrated a strong dedication to research and are completing a significant independent projects, capstone projects, or departmental honors theses under faculty mentorship.

We would also like to recognize and celebrate the faculty mentors who played a crucial role in guiding and supporting these students with their applications. The Department’s heartfelt gratitude goes to Professors Michael Chwe, Susanne Lohmann, Tejas Parasher, Julia Payson, Efrén Pérez, and Michael Ross for their invaluable mentorship.
